About

The Modern Policy Institute

What do you know about your representatives in government?

You probably know what they tell you.

But do you know how they’ve voted? Who gives them money? Who they give money to?

The Modern Policy Institute was founded by individuals who have fought to drag local government into the 21st century. We have identified three key barriers to modernization:

1. Uninformed Voters

It’s the information age. There’s more information than ever before. But the ability to connect with others around the world distracts us from important issues. In today’s world, it’s easier to find information about an internet celebrity than your hometown mayor.

2. Information Imbalance

An information imbalance exists between voters and politicians. Political candidates amass more and more information about voters while making their own actions and finances more and more opaque. Voters should be entitled to privacy, not candidates.

3. Cost of Entry

An information imbalance exists between voters and politicians. Political candidates amass more and more information about voters while making their own actions and finances more and more opaque. Voters should be entitled to privacy, not candidates.

How Do we Modernize?

We believe that by providing the right tools and information, we can help candidates and voters make government transparent, efficient, and fair.
